Kukkavoimaa - Flower power

Yritän neuloa (ainakin miehen mielestä) valtavaa lankavarastoani hieman pienemmäksi. Löysin sieltä tumman viininpunaista, yli kymmenen vuotta marinoitua, Novitan Nalle-lankaa noin 900 g. Olin aikoinani ostanut sen muistaakseni omaa neuletakkiani ajatellen, mutta parista yrityksestä huolimatta se ei ollut muotoutunut muuksi kuin puretuiksi ja suoristuspestyiksi vyyhdeiksi.

En halunnut lähteä jälleen neulomis-purkamisrumbaan, joten unohdin suosiolla aikuisen neuletakin. Väri kelpasi myös tyttärille, joten jos tekisin langasta jotain heille... ja kaksin kappalein.

Olen aikojen saatossa neulonut heille parikin neuletakkia, mutta niiden käyttö on jäänyt vähemmälle. Jos neuloisin vaikka liivin, sellaisen pitkään pidettävän neuleliivin, joka on aluksi tunika ja lapsen kasvaessa siitä tulisi vain vyötärömittainen liivi...?

Mieleni perukoilta lähti ajatus vaakasuuntaan neulotusta vähän koristeellisemmasta reunuksesta ja kaarrokeyläosasta.

I am trying to knit my (according to my husband) enormous stash of yarns. I found about 900 grams of Novita Nalle wool blend. I think I bought the yarn for my own cardigan but it never became one.

I decided to knit something for my daughters. I have knitted few cardigans for them but they have not used them much. I started to design some pullover vests that could be used first as dresses and after few years as normal-length vests. You can see below the same S size vest - my younger daughter is three years old and wears usually size 92 cm, the older one is six and size 116 cm.

I will translate the pattern also in English, but now I had no time to do that. Edit: The English language pattern is available below. I hope there are no many big mistakes. If you have any problems with the pattern, please let me know and comment here!

I think I have to knit the another size M pullover for my older daughter first. She did not like that her younger sister got the dress already and she did not...

KUKKAVOIMAA-NEULELIIVI

Koko: S ja M
Rinnanympärys/pituus: 64/48 ja 72/60 cm

Lanka: vajaa 200(300) g Novita Nalle lankaa (100 g = 260m).
Tiheys: 22 s x 32 krs = 10 cm sileää neuletta
Puikot: 4 mm pyöröpuikot

Muut tarvikkeet: 1 nappi ja pätkä eri väristä lankaa terälehtien luomisreunaan

Kokoa valitessa kannattaa katsoa rinnanympärystä ja neuloa vaate haluamansa pituiseksi. Esimerkkinä alla sama S-koko 3-vuotiaalla kokoa 92 käyttävällä pikkusiskolla mekkona ja hoikalla 6-vuotiaalla 116-kokoisella isosiskolla liivinä.

Silmukkamäärät annettu muodossa S(M).

Kukkareunus

Luo 12 s. Neulo ensimmäinen nurja puoli nurin.
1. krs (oikea puoli): 4 n, 5 o, 1 lk, 1 o, 1 lk, 2 o.
2. krs: 6 n, neulo seuraavaan s:aan 1 o etureunaan ja 1 o takareunaan (= lisäys), 7 o.
3. krs: 4 n, 4 o, 1 n, 2 o, 1 lk, 1 o, 1 lk, 3 o.
4. krs: 8 n, 1 lisäys, 8 o.
5. krs: 4 n, 4 o, 2n, 3 o, 1 lk, 1 o, 1 lk, 8 o.
6. krs: 10 n, 1 lisäys, 9 o.
7. krs: 4 n, 4 o, 3 n, 4 o, 1 lk, 1 o, 1 lk, 9 o.

Yhdistä renkaaksi.

Helmaosa

Poimi suoran nurjan neuleen reunasta n. 144(160) silmukkaa. Poiminta tapahtuu työn nurjalta puolelta poimimalla neljännen silmukan toinen lanka. Poimintareunaan muodostuu rullareuna.

Lehtireunuksen sauman kohdalla on keskitaka, merkitse kerroksen vaihtumiskohta silmukkamerkillä.

Aloita sileä neule pyörönä. Ensimmäisellä kerroksella voit tarvittaessa tasata silmukkamäärä 144(160) silmukkaan. Neulo sileää kunnes työn pituus pomintareunasta on 28(38) cm tai haluamasi mitta.

Tee kainaloaukot: Neulo silmukkamerkistä 26(32) s, päättele 14(16) s ylivetokavennuksin, neulo 58(64) s, päättele 14(16) s, neulo loput 26(32) s.

Lisää olkapään silmukat: Neulo silmukkamerkistä 26(32) s, luo 46(53) s, neulo 58(64) s, luo 46(53) s, neulo loput 26(32) s. Työssä on nyt yhteensä 208(234) silmukkaa.

Kaarroke

Kaarrokkeessa on 8(9) piirroksen mallikertaa. Neulo piirroksen mukaan. Työssä on kavennusten jälkeen 80(90) s.

Aloita niskan muotoilu neuloen lyhennettyjä kerroksia:

1. krs: Neulo 8(9) s, käänny.
2. krs: Nosta ensimmäinen silmukka neulomatta ja kiristä (vedä langasta, kunnes silmukka ikään kuin pyörähtää ympäri muodostaen kahden langan silmukan), neulo nurin kierroksen alkuun, neulo vielä 8(9) s n,  käänny.
3. krs: Nosta ensimmäinen silmukka neulomatta ja kiristä, neulo oikein edellisen kerroksen kiristetyn kahden langan silmukan kohdalle, neulo kumpikin lanka oikein yhteen yhdeksi silmukaksi. Neulo 8(9) o, käänny.
4. krs: Nosta ensimmäinen silmukka neulomatta ja kiristä, neulo nurin edellisen kerroksen kiristetyn kahden langan silmukan kohdalle, neulo kumpikin lanka yhteen nurin yhdeksi silmukaksi. Neulo 8(9) n, käänny.
Toista kerroksia 3 ja 4 vielä kerran.
Neulo oikein kierroksen vaihtumiskohtaan keskitaakse.

Kaulus

Neulo kierrettyä joustinta, *1 o silmukan takareunasta, 1 n*, toista *-* kierros loppuun. Kun olet neulonut joustinta 4 krs, päättele neuloen kierrettyä joustinta. Katkaise lanka ja päättele.

Rinnuskukka

Luo 5 silmukkaa eri värisellä langalla (puretaan pois kukan viimeistelyvaiheessa). Katkaise lanka.

Ota neuleen lanka käyttöön ja neulo 1 krs oikein (nurja puoli).

Aloita terälehden muotoilu:

1. krs: 2 o, 1 lk, 1 o, 1 lk, 2 o.
2. krs: Nurin.
3. krs: 3 o, 1 lk, 1 o, 1 lk, 3 o.
4. krs: Nurin.
5. krs: 4 o, 1 lk, 1 o, 1 lk, 4 o.
6. krs: Nurin.
7. krs: 5 o, 1 lk, 1 o, 1 lk, 5 o.
8. krs: Nurin.
9. krs: 1 o, 1 yliv.kav., 7 o, 2 o yhteen, 1 o.
10. krs: Nurin.
11. krs: 1 o, 1 yliv.kav., 5 o, 2 o yhteen, 1 o.
12. krs: Nurin.
13. krs: 1 o, 1 yliv.kav., 3 o, 2 o yhteen, 1 o.
14. krs: Nurin.
15. krs: 1 o, nosta 1 s oikein neulomatta, 2 o yhteen, vedä nostettu silmukka yhteen neulottujen silmukoiden yli, 1 o.

Katkaise lanka, jätä pituutta noin 15 cm terälehden kiinniompelua varten. Vedä lanka jäljellä olevien silmukoiden läpi ja kiristä.

Pura eri värinen lanka pois. Poimi 4 silmukkaa puretusta luontireunasta ja siirrä terälehti odottamaan pyöröpuikon kaapelille.

Neulo yhteensä 5 kpl samanlaisia terälehtiä. Jätä viimeisen terälehden alotuspään lanka melko pitkäksi, n. 20 cm, sillä sitä käytetään terälehtien yhdistämiseen ja kukan kiinnittämiseen.

Yhdistä terälehdet vetämällä viimeisen terälehden lanka kaikkien terälehtien silmukoiden läpi. Kiristä jokaisen terälehden silmukat hyvin langan ympärille. Solmi tiukasti.

Kiinnitä kukka keskeltä ja kukkien terälehden päistä liivin vasempaan rinnukseen. Kiinnitä nappi kukan keskelle.


FLOWER POWER PULLOVER VEST

Size: S and M

Bust/length: 64/48 and 72/60 cm

Yarn: little bit less than 200(300) g Novita Nalle (100 g = 260 m)

Gauge: 22 sts x 32 rows = 10 cm stockinette stitch

Needles: 4 mm circular needle (80 cm, worked in magic loop method)

1 button and some different colour yarn to cast on leafs

When you choose the size, note the bust size and knit as long vest as needed. Example: you can see the same vest in size S worn by 3 years-old younger sister (wears usually size 92 cm) and quite thin 6 years-old older sister (her size 116 cm).

Stitches and lengths are given as S(M).

Leaf border

Cast on 12 sts. Purl the first row (back side).

Row 1 (right side): p4, k 5, yo, k 1, yo, k 2.
Row 2: p 6, knit the next stitch twice (knit second stitch to the back loop of the stitch = increase), k 7.
Row 3: p 4, k 4, p 1, k 2, yo, k 1, yo, k 3.
Row 4: p 8, increase 1, k 8.
Row 5: p 4, k 4, p 2, k 3, yo, k 1, yo, k 8.
Row 6: p 10, increase 1, k 9.
Row 7: p 4, k 4, p 3, k 4, yo, k 1, yo, k 9.
Row 8: p 12, increase 1, k 10.
Row 9: p 4, k 4, p 4, slip 2, knit the slipped stitches together in the back loops (ssk), k 7, k 2 together (2tog), k 1.
Row 10: p 10, increase 1, k 11.
Row 11: p 4, k 4, p 5, ssk, k 5, 2tog, k 1.
Row 12: p 8, increase 1, k 2, p 1, k 9.

Repeat rows 1 – 18 until the piece measures about 64(72) cm and the last knitted row is 18. Bind off.

Sew the cast on and bind off ends together.

Hem

Pick up about 144(160) stitches from the purled end of the leaf border. Pick up stitches on the back side of the border; pick up one yarn of the fourth stitch.

Leaf border seam is the centre back. Mark centre back with a loop mark.

Work in round. If needed, you can increase/decrease on the first row to meet the given stitch number. Knit stockinette until the length of stockinette is 28(38) cm or the length you desire.

Shape underarm vent: Knit 26(32) sts, bind off 14(16) sts, knit 58(64) sts, bind off 14(16) sts, knit 14(16) to the end of the row.

Increase shoulder stitches: Knit 26(32) sts, cast on 46(53) sts, knit 58(64) sts, cast on 46(53) sts, knit 26(32) sts to the end of the row. Working now with 208(234) stitches.

Yoke

There are 8(9) chart repeats. See the pattern charts in Finnish pattern. Knit the pattern once. There are 80(90) stitches after the decreases.

Shape the neck with shortened rows:

Row 1: Knit 8(9) sts, turn over.
Row 2: Slip the first stitch and tighten it up (by pulling the yarn until the stitch ”flips over” and becomes a two-yarn stitch), purl to the centre back, purl 8(9), turn over.
Row 3: Slip the first stitch and tighten it up, knit to the tightened two-yarn stitch, knit two-yarn stitch as one stitch, knit 8(9), turn over.
Row 4: Slip the first stitch and tighten it up, purl to the tightened two-yarn stitch, purl two-yarn stitch as one stitch, purl 8(9), turn over.

Repeat rows 3 and 4 once more.
Knit to the centre back.

Collar

Knit twisted ribbing, *k 1 in the back loop, p 1*, repeat *-* to the end of the round. Knit totally ribbing for 4 rows. Bind of with twisted ribbing. Break the yarn.

Flower

Cast on 5 stitches in different colour. Break the yarn.

Start with the main colour and knit 5 (back side).

Shape petal:

Row 1: k 2, yo, k 1, yo, k 2.
Rows 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 and 14: Purl.
Row 3: k 3, yo, k 1, yo, k 3.
Row 5: k 4, yo, k 1, yo, k 4.
Row 7: k 5, yo, k 1, yo, k 5.
Row 9: k 1, ssk, k 7, 2tog, k 1.
Row 11: k 1, ssk, k 5, 2tog, k 1.
Row 13: k 1, ssk, k3, 2tog, k 1.
Row 15: k 1, slip 1, 2 tog, pass slipped stitch over the decreased stitches, k 1.

Break yarn with ~ 15 cm extra length. Extra is needed for sewing the petal. Pull the yarn through the remaining stitches.

Remove the different colour yarn. Pick up 4 stitches in cast-on edge. Slip stitches on hold to circular needle.

Knit totally 5 petals. The main colour yarn in the cast-on edge of the last petal should be quite long, approx. 20 cm. This long yarn is needed to connect petals into a flower and sewing the flower to the vest.

Join petals together by pulling the yarn of the last petal through all petal stitches. Tighten up petal stitches around the yarn.

Sew the flower from the centre and petal tips to the left side of the vest. Sew the button middle of the flower.
